i was way too excited whenever these sweet sisters mom called me to discuss details about their session and asked about pettiskirts for her daughters to wear.
i was in photographer heaven!
she purchased these from oopsy daisy baby.
so girly and so sweet and so pink and fluffy!
i will be getting in two of these in the next few weeks to play around with.
a torquoise petti to fit a girl between 2 and 3 and a red petti to fit a girl between 4 and 6.
so keep this in mind if you have a session booked in the next few months.
cant wait!
they were so funny kicking their feet in the air.
i would love for raeleigh to have a little sister to share memories like this but ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN:)
the girls were just rolling around in the grass and looked so beautiful and happy. i love images like these that just look so natural.
mrs kimbrali rae boyd!
this is what my daughter said saturday night when we were playing "dress up/catwalk/modeling contest".
it was so cute.
she went from "producing mrs kimbrali boyd" to "pronouncing mrs kimbrali boyd" to finally "announcing mrs kimbrali boyd".
we dressed up in fancy clothes and strutted our stuff down our 10 foot hallway.
raeleigh worked it! and of course she won the contest.
it was a lot of fun to do that but not so much fun to try on my wedding dress and see just how much weight i have gained in the last 6 or so years.
wow.
lets just say that my dress isnt fitting quite like it used to.
EXTREMELY DEPRESSING.
anywho.
a few weeks ago we got a group of my bffs and their kidlets together for a little urban mini photo session.
just so you can see what i was working with here.
word to the wise......dont try this at home.
6 kids, 100 degree weather, and a camera dont mix well:)
here are a few from that day.
and of course, my little miss.......
little man wasnt being very cooperative as usual:)
they are all pretty stinking cute though, no?
and just so you know, i love photographing older childrens sessions in areas like this so if you are wanting to try something a little different than grass and flowers let me know and we can pick a really awesome location for your next session:)
i was checking my aol email just now and this story popped up about an "uncontacted" indian tribe in brazil.
you should go look at the photos and read the article here.
i just think this is incredible.
they have no idea what an airplane is so they must have been scared out of their minds but instead of running or hiding they lift up their bow and arrows to defend their small tribe.
i hope that they remain "uncontacted" but doubt that with our insanely curious world.
i bet they will be all over national geographic by the end of the year.
these two went to preschool together, which i think is so cute, but did not start dating until a few years ago.
actually, on their very first date they were involved in a head on collision and totaled the car.
that is a hell of a first date!
anywho.
they were so laid back and easy to photograph.
it was beyond hot the day of their session but they managed to suck it up and enjoy the afternoon with each other. i enjoyed it too:)
love this one.
love love love this one too.
he kind of has a leonardo dicaprio thing going on here. (with whom by the way i had the most obsessive out of control crush on in high school. seriously. it was kind of creepy.)
fishing is a big part of their life together and they really wanted to incorporate it into their engagement photos which i think is awesome.
and they even caught a fish....but dont worry it was thrown right back into the pond two seconds after this.
piggyback rides are the coolest.
so i went fishing the day after their session last week because i realized how much i missed it.
i loved to go fishing with my aunts when i was a wee little tot and have not gone in years.
i spent two hours at the crap city lake near my parents house and not one single bite!
all i left the lake with was a bad attitude and a severe sun burn!
meet some of the coolest kids on the planet.
they are going to be my new neighbors because i am going to borrow their family sized tent and move my little crew to their backyard so that i can wake up every morning and go hang out in their home which just happens to be my dream house.
it is the most beautifully unique house i have ever been in and one day i will build one sort of like it and half the size:)
their mom is a very creative person so there is custom art work all over the place and quirky furniture but
mostly their house just feels lived in and full of love which is what i think makes it so great.
there is a sign on the wall in their kitchen that says "all because two people fell in love"
i thought that was so sweet!
anwyho. enough about the insanely cool house and on to the insanely cool kids.
pretty much perfect.
and hes ok too :)
and i had to show this just because im pretty sure the dog was smiling at me.
this session was beyond wonderful.
i love getting to meet people like them.
happy day.
my mom had a tire blow out this morning on the way back home from houston and i got a flat tire this afternoon on the way to a graduation party.
you see, my mom and i are cool like that:) we like to hang out and get flat tires on the same day and whatnot.
i called my dad to tell him because my husband isnt exactly the handiest man on earth (handsome? yes. handy? not so much) and he was all "you have got to be kidding me." and i was all "nope."
it all worked out great though because two super amazingly nice men pulled over to help me change the tire.
they wouldnt even let me pay them but i know that they will be repaid somehow anyways.
i am a big believer in that.
what goes around comes around.
anyways. i think everyone should know how to fix a flat so how about you all go check this out and learn how to and next time your tire decides to pop on the interstate or go flat in a parking lot you can change it all by yourself and then call me and tell me how wonderful i am for sharing this link with you:)
here are a few images taken last week at a just for fun type of session.
she is going to be a senior next year at the same high school that i graduated from 8 years ago and it kills me because the girls at the school have such self esteem issues!!! i know i sure did when i was there but now that i am out i just want to slap them all and say "honey! snap out of it! you are beautiful!"
hopefully she will she how beautiful she really is when she sees how she looks from my point of view.
this isnt technically perfect. it is a little out of focus but i love it anyways. she has such a great smile and i am a big fan of wind in the hair.
finally.
here are some photos taken at the photography workshop i went to in austin the last week in march.
the kids there were so stinking cute and i met some amazing new dorky photographer friends.
i so enjoyed hanging out with other people who like to talk about cameras and lenses and shutter speeds and aperture:) and of course i loved getting to spend the weekend in austin.
the house hunt went a little too well. i found "the neighborhood" and a few good options for "the home" but im thinking this might not be the right time to pack up and leave all of our family behind.
it sucks not knowing what the future holds. i usually like being somewhat spontaneous but not when it comes to things like this.
i just miss texas and i want a better place for my kiddos to grow up.
ugh.
im throwing myself a pitty party over here.
ok....no more whining!
i promise.
on to the cute kids!
get comfortable because there are a lot of them:)
this one is my absolute favorite. i really lucked out because i had no idea it was going to come out this way when i photographed it. lets pretend that i did it on purpose though:)
this little girl was precious and she would not let her mom leave her side.
little boys and flowers usually dont mix well together for photos but he just appeared out of nowhere with this in his hand and he looked so adorable.
this is one of the reasons i want to move to austin.
these all look sort of blah from resizing them for the web but really....how cute are they!?!
my mom is in texas right now with the rest of my family and im feeling a tad bummed being that this will be the first mothers day ever in my 25 years that i have not been with her.
so i figured id put together a little list of things that make my mom so amazingly awesome and lovable.
- she honestly believes that i am the most beautiful girl in the world.
no matter now much weight i gain, no matter how frizzy my hair is or how frumpy i am dressed or how disgusting i KNOW that i look, she still tells me how beautiful i am. how great is that!?!
and i can tell she means it! which is the best part:)
- she is so selfless that it is just ridiculous.
she is always ALWAYS thinking of others before herself.
here is a silly quote that i have read in the past that reminds me of my mom -
"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." - Tenneva Jordan
she has done this very thing many many times in my life:)
-she marches to the beat of her own drum.
she is unlike any of the other moms in the small town where she lives and i thank god for it!!!
i am so glad to have had an example like that growing up. i might not have appreciated it then but i sure do now.
- she was, is, and always will be my friend but never felt like she had to be my best friend. when i was in high school it would have been much easier for her to just let me do what i wanted and to have been the "cool mom" but she knew when it was more important to be my mother. she gave me a curfew and punished me even when i told her i hated her for it. (sorry about that)
- when i was in 6th grade my group of friends would take turns every friday bringing in outside food for us all to eat in the cafeteria for lunch. i had totally forgotten the day that it was my turn and i remember calling my mom at work, which was at least 30 minutes away from my school, just before lunch panicking and demanding that she bring me food right away. she could have just told me no but instead she hauled ass to pick up some pizza and get it to us in time.
i probably didnt even tell her thank you.
so thank you mom. i didnt forget about that although you probably did;)
- she mows her own grass:) at least most of the time she does even though mostly everyone else in her neighborhood has a "yard man"
- she gives killer back rubs and will give them even when her own back is hurting.
- she can sing somewhere over the rainbow really really pretty and used to sing it to me a lot when i was a little girl.
- she watches judge judy religiously which i just think is so cute.
so i miss you mom and i hope you have a wonderful mothers day.
and remember..................i love you morestestest and always willestestest.
here is a little something raeleigh put together this week after school. the quality is complete crap because it was recorded using my point and shoot digital camera which raeleigh dropped on the marble floor at our hotel in new orleans a few weeks ago:) i thought it might make you smile anyways.
she says she is going to be a rock star. i believe her.
she is so awesome.
